Stock import in Hummerce lets you update item quantities in selected warehouses with a single Excel file, instead of doing it manually on each item's card. It's useful when synchronizing stock with an external system or after a stocktake.

¶ Benefits and use cases
- Update many items and many warehouses with one Excel file, instead of manually on every item's card.
- Test mode checks the file's correctness without saving changes in the store.
- Ignore errors lets you catch every invalid row in the file in a single run, instead of fixing them one by one.
- Append mode lets you update the stock of only selected items, without touching the rest.
- The import is available under the Data transfer tab, in Excel file format.
- Test mode - checking it means the data isn't saved (the whole transfer transaction is rolled back at the end) - lets you check the file's correctness before the actual import.
- Append mode (on by default) - import only changes the items from the file, the rest of the store's stock stays unchanged. Turning the mode off means all items outside the file get a deleted status as soon as the import starts, so the file's content fully matches the database's content - only turn it off when the file contains every item in the store.
- Ignore errors - by default, the first error encountered (e.g. an invalid item symbol, an invalid warehouse symbol, a wrong price format, a wrong boolean value) stops the whole import. With this option checked, the invalid row is skipped and the import moves to the next one - lets you catch every error in the file in a single run.
- Timestamp the file - every entry in the list of added files gets the date and time the transfer started, which lets you, among other things, upload a file with the same name several times.
- File columns: symbol (mandatory - identifies the item in the store's database), warehouse (mandatory - the warehouse symbol), and stock (mandatory - the item's quantity in that warehouse, a value of 0 or more).
- When a given item symbol doesn't exist in the store, the import stops - or, with ignore errors on, skips that record and shows it in the summary.
- The stock level is saved through the Inventory warehouse operation - the previous level is overwritten, and the item's reservations stay unchanged.
The import requires that the warehouses given in the file (the warehouse column) already exist in the store (Warehouse).
- Import overwrites the stock level - it doesn't add it to the existing stock.
- Without append mode, items outside the file get a deleted status - risking the loss of stock for items left out of the file.
- Import doesn't change item reservations - these stay independent of the imported stock.
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
Can the import be tested before saving changes?
Yes, test mode checks the file and rolls back the whole transaction at the end, without saving any data in the store.
Can I import stock for only selected items?
Yes, in append mode - items outside the file keep their existing stock level.
Does an error in one row of the file stop the whole import?
By default, yes. With ignore errors turned on, import skips the invalid row and shows it in the summary, continuing with the rest of the file.
Does the import overwrite item reservations?
No, reservations stay unchanged - only the stock level is overwritten.
