Personal pickup in Hummerce is a regular delivery method flagged as self-pickup - the customer pays for the order in the store and picks it up at a chosen location instead of waiting for a courier. The store configures it with the same tools as any other delivery method, with no separate module, and the customer gets an email reminder if they forget to collect the order.
Last updated: 2026-09-29 (personal pickup is a setting of the platform's standard delivery mechanism, with no version of its own).
¶ Benefits and use cases
- Zero or reduced delivery cost for the customer and the store - no courier cost.
- The customer picks their own pickup day and time within a window defined by the store, with no waiting at home for a parcel.
- An automatic email reminder about an uncollected order, after a set number of days, cuts down on forgotten orders.
- Cash on delivery can be excluded for personal pickup, if the store doesn't support it at that location.
- The same mechanism handles a single pickup point or a chain of locations - each location is a separate delivery method with its own address and hours, see Physical store support.
- Personal pickup is set up like any other delivery method, under Configuration -> Deliveries -> Add, with Personal pickup = Yes. This field decides that the delivery method is of the personal-pickup type - the rest of the fields are shared with regular delivery methods (see Delivery methods).
- Basic delivery fields: Symbol, Display in web store, Selectable, Views, Name (e.g. "Personal pickup") and a customer-facing Description (e.g. address and pickup hours).
- Company/location data on the delivery method: name, country (Possible countries), recipient phone, street and number, postal code, city, email.
- The days of the week the order can be picked up on, and the Cut-off time, determine whether the order is ready the same day or only the next one. Delivery delay (business days) adds the time needed to prepare the order for pickup.
- Price and Threshold price work the same as for other delivery methods - personal pickup usually has a price of
0, but that's not a requirement.
- Possible payments lets you exclude payment methods the store doesn't support for personal pickup (e.g. cash on delivery), and add an image (logo) for the delivery method.
The Skip shipped status setting makes an order with this delivery method skip the general "Shipped" status and go straight to the ready-for-pickup status - this only makes sense for personal-pickup delivery methods, since the order is never physically "shipped" to the customer.
In Configuration -> Settings, the Personal pickup tab, the store fills in additional fields shared by all delivery methods of this type:
- Recipient's first name and Recipient's last name - copied by default from the order's sender data (
${_firstName}, ${_lastName}), so notifications reach the right person with no extra form.
- Order status change email title - the subject of the message informing the customer of a status change to "Ready for pickup."
- Pickup reminder message subject - the subject of the email sent when the order has been waiting longer than a set number of days.
- Number of days - how many days after the status changes to "Ready for pickup" the store sends a reminder about an uncollected order.
- Payment symbol (pickup - cash on delivery) - based on this symbol, the order form blocks that payment method for personal-pickup delivery methods (consistent with excluding it in the delivery method's own Possible payments field).
Personal pickup uses the same delivery mechanism as the rest of the platform - it's a setting (Personal pickup), not a separate, versioned module. The delivery, pricing and status mechanism is available in all current versions of Hummerce.
- Works after an update - personal pickup is a setting on a standard delivery method, configured by store staff in the panel.
- Requires implementation - the first setup of personal pickup (creating the delivery method, the Personal pickup tab settings, testing) and each further pickup location.
- Minimum estimated time:
- one personal-pickup delivery method (address, hours, payment exclusion, reminder settings) - from 1 h,
- a further pickup location as a separate store with its own warehouse - see the implementation time in Physical store support.
- The time for a specific implementation depends on its scope - we quote it individually.
- What the time depends on: the number of pickup locations, the number of description languages and email subjects, whether a separate warehouse per location is needed.
- Personal pickup has no dedicated support for store points in the standard setup (booking a specific time slot, choosing a location on a map) - the location and hours description is plain text in the Description field.
- The Personal pickup tab settings (email subjects, days to reminder, blocked payment symbol) are shared for the whole store - with several pickup locations, you can't set different reminder content for each one without extra configuration.
- Skip shipped status works at the delivery-method level - if mistakenly checked for a regular courier delivery method, it will also skip the "Shipped" status there, where it doesn't make sense.
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
- Letting the customer choose a specific pickup time slot (booking an hour), instead of a general window of days and hours.
- Separate reminder content for each location in a chain of stores.
Does personal pickup require a separate module?
No. It's a regular delivery method with Personal pickup = Yes - configured with the same tools as any other delivery method.
Does the customer get a reminder if they forget to pick up the order?
Yes. After a set number of days from the status changing to "Ready for pickup," the store sends a reminder email, with the subject set in the configuration.
Can cash on delivery be blocked for personal pickup?
Yes, with two independent settings: the Possible payments field on the delivery method, and the blocked payment symbol on the Personal pickup tab.
Can each store location have its own personal-pickup delivery method?
Yes - that's the basis for linking an online store with a chain of physical stores, see Physical store support.
How long does setting up personal pickup take?
From 1 h for one delivery method with basic configuration - more if the location also needs its own warehouse and description page.

¶ REST API and MCP
- REST API: the order contains the chosen delivery method and its status; delivery methods and their settings (including Personal pickup) aren't managed through the REST API - see Delivery methods.
- MCP:
ec2_delivery_methods, ec2_delivery_create, ec2_delivery_update (name, visibility, activity) - see Delivery methods.
The name and description of the personal-pickup delivery method are set in the delivery method's edit screen, separately for each language and view. Email subjects and reminder content - on the Personal pickup tab of the store configuration and in the email templates, see Email templates and alerts.
