¶ Shipment tracking - status and tracking link
Shipment tracking in Hummerce is a built-in mechanism that automatically checks the shipment status with the carrier and updates the order's delivery status, and can email the customer a tracking link together with the shipment number - with no work from store staff.
As of Hummerce 2.30 (the module has worked since version 2.30.79), updated 2026-09-29.
¶ Benefits and use cases
- The customer sees the shipment status (in transit, ready for pickup, delivered, returned to sender) with no contact with store staff - fewer "where's my parcel" questions.
- The tracking link reaches the customer by email together with the shipment number, automatically once it's saved.
- Automatically detected delivery can also close the order, and it's at the same time the start of the return period.
- The scope of tracked orders (number of days, statuses) is configured by store staff in the panel, without a developer.
- The mechanism is built to add further carriers - adding a new status API is a technical extension, not a separate module.
- Shipment tracking is a default platform mechanism - it doesn't need installing. The delivery method's edit screen indicates which Delivery tracking API should check the status of that delivery method.
- The scheduled "Shipment tracking" task fetches orders (or individual parcels) linked to a delivery method with a tracking API assigned, retrieves the list of events from the carrier's system, and saves the result on the order.
- The InPost (ShipX) API is currently available in this mechanism - selected in the delivery method's edit screen as the "Delivery tracking API." DHL24 updates shipped and delivered statuses through its own, separate integration mechanism, outside this shared task.
- Adding support for another carrier in this mechanism requires new technical implementation (handling that carrier's events and API communication) - it isn't a panel setting.
¶ Shipment number and tracking link
- The waybill number is saved on the order automatically by the courier integration, or manually by store staff; one order can have several numbers when it contains several parcels.
- For couriers with link support (InPost, DPD, Poczta Polska - the Polish national postal operator), the store creates the shipment tracking link itself and saves it on the order.
- Saving the link triggers an email to the customer - separately for the whole order and separately for a single parcel, when the order contains several shipments.
- The settings specify how many days from placing the order the system should track the shipment (30 by default), and which order, delivery and payment statuses qualify an order for tracking.
- The task has a maximum wait time for the carrier's API response (in milliseconds) - a safeguard against the task hanging when an external system responds slowly.
- The whole task can be turned on or off independently of which delivery methods have a tracking API assigned.
- An optional setting automatically marks the order as finished once the delivery status changes to "delivered" (off by default).
- The delivery date detected by tracking is also the start of the withdrawal period - Returns - withdrawal from the contract.
- The shipment tracking module has worked since version 2.30.79.
- Automatic shipment status fetching - since version 2.30; tracking links saved on the order and emailed to the customer - since version 2.32.
- A delivery method with a Delivery tracking API assigned (currently InPost ShipX) - Delivery methods overview.
- A configured and connected courier integration for that carrier.
- An email template with the tracking link and shipment number.
- Works after an update as a mechanism (scheduled task, panel settings).
- Requires implementation: assigning a tracking API to a specific delivery method, configuring the number of days and statuses to track, an email template with the tracking link.
- Minimum estimated time:
- configuring tracking settings for an existing courier integration with tracking API support - from 1 h,
- adding tracking support for a new carrier (technical implementation) - quoted individually.
- What the time depends on: the number of delivery methods and carriers covered by tracking, whether the email template needs adjusting.
- Automatic shipment statuses are currently supported by InPost (ShipX) within this mechanism; DHL24 updates the shipped and delivered status through its own, separate integration mechanism. Other carriers currently have no automatic status API connected in this mechanism - store staff then set the delivery status manually.
- The store only creates a tracking link for couriers with link support (InPost, DPD, Poczta Polska).
- The maximum wait time for the API response is shared by the whole task - it can't be set separately for each delivery method.
- Automatic order completion on delivery is off by default - it has to be turned on deliberately.
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
- Automatic shipment statuses for DPD, DHL, UPS, GLS and other carriers within the same mechanism.
Does the customer see the shipment status without contacting store staff?
Yes, for delivery methods with a tracking API connected (currently InPost) - the status updates automatically, and the customer can get a tracking link by email.
Does tracking work for all couriers?
No. Automatic statuses in this mechanism are currently supported by InPost (ShipX); DHL24 has its own mechanism for tracking shipment and delivery. Other couriers need a manual status update.
Can you limit how long the system tracks a shipment?
Yes, with the "Days to track shipment" setting (30 days by default).
Does delivery automatically close the order?
Only once the matching setting is enabled - it's off by default.
How long does implementing shipment tracking take for an existing courier integration?
From 1 h - it's panel settings configuration.
Does adding tracking for a new carrier need a developer?
Yes - it's new technical implementation of that carrier's API, not a panel setting.

- Configuration -> Settings, Orders group: Shipment tracking, Days to track shipment (30 by default), Possible order statuses (for shipment tracking), Possible order delivery statuses (for shipment tracking), Possible order payment statuses (for shipment tracking), Automatically set order status to finished when delivery status changes to "delivered" (off by default).
- Scheduled tasks: the Shipment tracking task - enable/disable, Maximum wait time for API response.
- Editing a delivery method: the Delivery tracking API field.
- Order: waybill number, tracking link, delivery status - in the order details; on the order list, a filter by delivery method and delivery status.
¶ REST API and MCP
- REST API: the order's delivery status can be read and changed through the general order API (REST API).
- MCP:
ec2_orders_status, ec2_orders_update_status - reading and changing the order and delivery status. No dedicated method for reading the tracking link itself - see also Delivery methods overview.
