¶ Multiple currencies - prices and payments in Hummerce
Multiple currencies in Hummerce let the store show prices and accept payments in the currency the customer chooses - alongside the store's main currency. Exchange rates can be pulled automatically from the National Bank of Poland (NBP) or set manually. This makes it easier to sell abroad and to run several language or country versions of the store on one product catalog.
Basic platform feature - currency management in the panel is available in all current versions, updated 2026-09-29.
¶ Benefits and use cases
- Sell abroad without a separate store - the customer sees prices and can pay in their own currency, on the same catalog and in the same panel.
- Country or language versions with a different currency - every view of the store can have one forced currency or several to choose from.
- Current rates with no manual work - currencies marked as automatic update their rate daily from NBP.
- Flexible amount format - the number of decimal places, the decimal separator and the digit grouping separator are set for each currency separately.
- Safe start for a new currency - a newly added currency is inactive until its rate is set, so there's no risk of pricing items at a zero rate.
- The store has one main currency, which item prices refer to, and can have any number of additional currencies.
- Each currency has: a symbol (code, e.g. PLN, EUR, USD), a main and an additional symbol (e.g. zł, gr), a base - the number of subunits in one main unit (usually 100), an exchange rate, a base rate (the number of units the rate is quoted for), a number of decimal places, a decimal separator (period or comma) and a digit grouping separator.
- A currency can independently be: active (visible in the store), available in orders (the customer can pay with it), and have its rate updated automatically.
- A new currency is created inactive until someone sets its rate - an active currency with a zero rate would price the whole catalog at zero.
- The rate can also be entered manually, independently of the automatic update - this lets the store set a different rate than the market one, if needed.
- Currencies marked for automatic updates pull the mid rate from table A of the National Bank of Poland (NBP) - once a day, plus shortly after the store starts.
- The update covers only currencies marked this way - the store keeps the remaining rates manually.
- The setting Currency in the order based on user session settings decides whether an order stores amounts in the customer's currency or always in the default order currency.
- When a customer buys in a currency other than the default order currency, the store also saves the converted total in the customer's currency on the order - for information, alongside the amount in the default currency.
- Which currencies a customer can choose when placing an order is decided by the In order setting on each currency.
- A view of the store can have one forced currency or several to choose from the store's currency list - without a setting, a view uses the default currency.
- The same applies to price lists - a price list entry has its own currency, defaulting to the item's price currency.
- Currency management in the panel and the customer changing their session currency - since version 2.11.
- Otherwise - a basic platform feature, available in all current versions.
- Automatic NBP rate updates and saving the converted order value in the customer's currency - modules enabled during implementation, not active in the standard configuration.
- Currency per view - requires configured Views.
- Payment in the chosen currency depends on whether the selected payment method supports it - check per payment integration.
- Basic currency management works right after an update - adding a currency and setting a manual rate is panel configuration.
- Automatic NBP rate updates and saving the order value in the customer's currency require enabling a module during implementation.
- Minimum estimated time:
- adding and configuring a new currency (rate, precision, availability in orders) - from 2 h,
- enabling automatic NBP rate updates - from 2 h.
- The time for a specific implementation depends on its scope - we quote it individually.
- What the time depends on:
- the number of currencies and whether they need to be available for ordering (checking support in payments and delivery),
- whether a separate currency per view is needed,
- the store's version - an older version needs an update first (quoted separately).
- Automatic rate updates cover only the National Bank of Poland (table A mid rate) - other rate sources require manual entry or a separate integration.
- The NBP rate updates once a day - the rate in the store doesn't change during the day.
- The converted order value in the customer's currency is informational - settlement happens in the default order currency.
- The ability to pay in the chosen currency depends on the payment provider - not every payment integration supports every currency.
- No operation to create and activate a currency in the REST API - a new currency is created in the panel or through the AI assistant (inactive, for manual activation).
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
- Additional exchange rate sources besides NBP.
- More frequent rate updates during the day.
- Activating and fully editing a currency through the AI assistant (currently: reading the list and creating a new, inactive currency).
Does Hummerce automatically pull exchange rates?
Yes, for currencies marked for automatic updates - once a day, from the National Bank of Poland.
Can a customer pay in the currency of their choice?
Yes, if the currency has the In order setting enabled and the selected payment method supports it.
Can every store view have a different currency?
Yes - a view can have one forced currency or several to choose from the store's currency list.
Is a newly added currency active right away?
No. A new currency is created inactive, to avoid pricing items at an unset rate - it's activated after the rate is entered.
How long does adding a new currency take?
Adding and configuring a currency in the panel - from 2 h; enabling automatic NBP rate updates - from 2 h.
Can the store pull rates from a source other than NBP?
Not by default - automatic updates cover only the National Bank of Poland; other rates have to be entered manually.
