Bulk operations on items in Hummerce are a panel transfer that changes one selected field - e.g. price, availability, main category, view assignment, or photos - for every item matching the given criteria, without opening and saving each item individually on its item card.
As of Hummerce 2.32 (arbitrary item selection criteria), updated 2026-09-29.
¶ Benefits and use cases
- One change for many items at once - e.g. a price cut across a whole category, hiding a sold-out item group, or assigning items to a new view - without editing each item by hand.
- Selecting items by criteria, the same way as in promotions or virtual categories - e.g. visible items, from a given category, item group, in a specific color or price range - not just the current list page.
- Fast processing of large sets - the transfer processes matching items in parallel, so a change affecting thousands of items doesn't block work for a whole day.
- A run report - the summary shows how many items were changed and whether any ended in an error.
- From the item list - selecting rows and choosing an operation from the menu above the list. Works only on the selected, loaded rows (the list shows up to 250 items per page).
- Data transfer -> Bulk operation on items (this page) - instead of selecting rows, the transfer picks items itself by criteria - covering the whole catalog matching the condition, regardless of how many items the store has.
¶ Selecting items and the operation type
- Criteria for items - the same criteria language as in item export (xls), promotions, and virtual categories; defaults to All items, with the option to narrow it down (visibility, category, item group, price, color, etc.) via Add new.
- Operation type - one field changed for all matching items:
| Operation type |
What it changes |
| Available / Visible / Buyable |
sets the corresponding item flag |
| Without own page |
hides the item's dedicated page |
| Assign / remove category visibility |
adds or removes the item from a selected category |
| Main category |
sets the item's main category |
| Item group |
assigns the item to an item group |
| Item template |
assigns the selected template |
| Assign to view |
adds items to the selected view (Views) |
| Property value |
sets the value of a selected item property |
| Delete / restore item |
flags items as deleted or restores them |
| Photo import (regular / B2B) |
assigns photos from the file server to items by symbol |
¶ Process and report
- The transfer fetches items matching the criteria and processes them in parallel (by default several threads at once), which speeds up work on large sets.
- Current progress is visible during the run (item number against the total matched items).
- On completion, a summary appears - the number of processed items and the number of errors, if any occurred.
- Arbitrary item selection criteria (as in promotions and virtual categories) - since version 2.32.
- Earlier platform versions only offered bulk operations from the selected rows on the item list (no criteria, no this transfer).
- Item criteria - the same mechanism as in Item sorting, promotions, and virtual categories.
- The Assign to view operation requires configured views (Views).
- The Photo import operation requires files already uploaded to the server (File and image manager).
- General data transfer rules - Data transfer.
- Works out of the box, no implementation needed - the transfer is part of the platform standard.
- Minimum estimated time: no implementation needed for the standard operation types; adding a new bulk operation type (a non-standard field) is quoted individually after analyzing the need.
- The transfer has no test mode - the change is saved immediately, with no way to trial it first or roll it back automatically (other than manually undoing the change or restoring from the item's history).
- The Purge operation (permanent deletion) isn't available here - it only applies to the Items (xls) transfer.
- The bulk operation from the item list (selected rows) covers at most the visible list page (up to 250 items) - larger sets are handled by the criteria in this transfer.
- One run changes only one field - several changes to the same items require several separate runs.
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
- A test mode (preview of items and changes before saving) for this transfer.
- Changing several fields in one run.
Does the operation cover the whole catalog, or only selected items?
The whole catalog matching the given criteria - you don't need to select items manually, unlike the bulk operation from the item list (limited to 250 items per page).
Can a bulk operation be undone?
The transfer has no test mode or built-in undo - the change has to be reversed manually or through the item's change history.
Which fields can be changed in one operation?
One per run: among others, availability, visibility, buyability, main category, category visibility, item group, template, view assignment, property value, item deletion/restoration, or photo import.
Can the AI assistant (MCP) change many items at once?
Partly - ec2_products_bulk_update changes price, availability, buyability, and visibility for items matching a symbol pattern, up to 1000 items per call. It doesn't support panel criteria (category, price, color) or the other bulk operation types.
How long does implementing this feature take?
Standard bulk operations work out of the box, without implementation.

- Running the transfer: Data transfer -> Bulk operation on items - the Criteria for items field (default All items, with an Add new option) and Operation type.
- Bulk operation from the list: Assortment -> Items - selecting rows and choosing an operation from the menu above the list (limited to the visible page, up to 250 items).
¶ REST API and MCP
- MCP (AI assistant - MCP server):
ec2_products_bulk_update - updates price (absolute value), availability, buyability, and visibility for items whose symbol matches an SQL LIKE pattern (e.g. ash%); limit 1-1000 items per call (the limit parameter, default 1000), with an offset parameter to process a larger set across several calls.
