¶ Customer and group discounts - fixed percentage discount
Discounts for a chosen customer, customer group, company or item group in Hummerce are calculated as a fixed percentage subtracted from the item's base price - without creating a separate price list or a new item. The discount comes from a property assigned to the customer, their group, their company or an item group, and is applied automatically in a price list rule.

¶ Benefits and use cases
- A percentage discount for one customer (e.g. a regular trading partner) without creating a separate individual price list.
- A discount for a whole customer group at once (e.g. wholesalers, VIP customers) - just add a new customer to the group to give them the same discount.
- A discount for a company - one discount for all employees of a company account, together with the Company accounts module.
- A discount for an item group, category, producer or single item - e.g. a clearance sale on a whole brand's assortment.
- Changing the discount is changing one value in a property, not editing the price list rule.
- The discount is calculated by a price list rule with the Discount from selected property ... calculator - a separate variant for: the item, the article (variant), the item's main category, the producer, the item group, the logged-in customer, their customer group, and their company.
- The size of the discount isn't written into the rule, only into the property assigned to the chosen object (e.g. a property holding the discount value on a customer group) - setting the discount for a new group is a new property value, not a new price list rule.
- Full description of price list rules, their criteria, order and remaining calculators: Price list rules.
¶ Condition for it to apply - order and iterative pricing
- The discount is calculated from the price set by an earlier rule (e.g. the base price or a price list price) - a rule with a discount shouldn't be first on the list of price list rules.
- The setting Continue iteratively counting prices in price list rules must be enabled for the discount to be added to the price from the previous rule, instead of stopping the calculation at the first match. Details: Price list rules.
- A percentage discount fits when the price should always be lower by the same amount than the base price (e.g. "wholesalers -10%"). When a customer or group should have a freely set, independent price per item - a price list assigned to the customer, company or group is a better fit.
- A one-off or time-limited discount code for a customer (e.g. in a mailing) - see Coupons.
- Discount calculators from an item, article, category, producer, item group, customer and customer group property - since version 2.30.
- The discount calculator from a company property (the logged-in customer's company) - available together with the Company accounts module.
- A property holding the discount value, assigned to the item, category, producer, item group, customer, customer group or company (Properties and locations).
- A price list rule with the matching calculator and correct order (Price list rules).
- A discount for a company - the Company accounts module.
- A discount requires setting up a price list rule with the matching calculator and a property with the discount value on the chosen object (customer, group, company or item) - this isn't a setting you enable on its own in the panel.
- Minimum estimated time: a discount for one group or one criterion (rule and property) - from 1 h.
- What the time depends on: the number of groups, customers or companies with a separate discount, the complexity of the rule's criteria, whether the discount needs to combine with a price list price (requires iterative pricing).
- When a customer matches several rules at once, the result depends on the order of rules in the list and the iterative pricing setting - there's no automatic choice of the "best" discount.
- The discount has no validity dates of its own - time-limited reductions are set through the rule's active status or through a promotion.
- Changing the discount requires editing the property in the panel - there's no separate, consolidated "customer and group discounts" form.
- We do not verify the configuration for legal compliance - the rules for combining discounts and informing the customer about promotion terms are set by the store.
- A separate "customer and group discounts" screen in the panel, without going through the price list rule and the property separately.
- A choice of which discount applies when a customer matches several rules at once.
Can one customer get a fixed percentage discount?
Yes. The discount comes from a property assigned to the customer, and it's calculated by a price list rule with the customer property discount calculator.
Can a discount be set for a whole customer group at once?
Yes. A discount in the customer group's property is enough - every customer in the group gets the same discount without a separate rule.
Can a company (B2B account) have its own discount for all employees?
Yes, the company property discount calculator applies one discount to all of that company's employee accounts.
How is a discount different from a price list?
A discount is a fixed percentage subtracted from the base price. A price list lets you set any independent price for each item - better when prices need to differ by more than a fixed percentage.
Can a discount be combined with a price list price?
Yes, provided the Continue iteratively counting prices in price list rules setting is enabled and the rule order is correct.
How long does setting up a discount for a customer or group take?
From 1 h per rule and property - the time grows with the number of groups and the complexity of the criteria.
