¶ Purchases and goods receipt in Hummerce
Purchases and Goods Receipt is a Hummerce module that turns lines from placed orders into supplier purchases: it groups them into purchase carts, carries them through the whole cycle of ordering from a supplier and receiving the goods on the warehouse, and the finished list can be exported to PDF. This lets the purchasing team know what to order and from whom, without manually retyping lines from customer orders.
As of Hummerce 2.35, updated 2026-09-29.
¶ Benefits and use cases
- Purchases are generated automatically from orders - the module creates a purchase line for every order line, so staff don't have to assemble the purchase list by hand from separate customer orders.
- Purchases are grouped by supplier - a purchase cart is assigned to one specific supplier, with its own status and receipt for each.
- Goods receipt closes the purchase by itself - once the quantity received on the warehouse covers the ordered quantity, the purchase automatically moves to the finished status.
- The supplier can self-serve - if the supplier has a store account, they see a "To fulfill" tab with their assigned purchases and can change the status without contacting store staff.
- A ready-to-print list - a purchase cart exports to a PDF file.
- The same mechanism for configurable sets - components of configurable products go into purchases the same way as regular items (Configurations and Purchases in Hummerce).
- Most useful in stores that manufacture or assemble goods to order, and in B2B sales with their own supplier network.
- After an order is placed, the module checks every one of its lines. In the base version, every order line requires a purchase - the rule for "when a purchase is actually needed" (e.g. only when an item is out of stock, or only for made-to-order production) is adapted to a given store's sales model.
- Lines not yet assigned to a specific purchase go into a queue (Current purchases) - from there, staff add them manually to the purchase cart of the relevant supplier.
- The Current purchases screen shows the queued lines: item, quantity, maximum purchase price, and the order and view (store) they come from.
- A line is added to the purchase cart assigned to a supplier; the store suggests a supplier if the item has one assigned.
¶ Purchase carts and statuses
- A purchase cart groups lines for one supplier, and calculates the cart's net value as well as the price and value of the purchase for each line.
- The cart's status moves in sequence: Prepared -> Processing -> Ordered -> Confirmed -> Finished, with the option to Cancel or flag a Complaint.
- Placing the purchase with the supplier requires the cart to have a supplier assigned.
- The receiving screen groups placed purchases (status Ordered) by supplier, with a list of lines and a received-quantity field for each.
- Confirming the receipt saves the delivered quantity on the purchase line.
- Receiving goods on the warehouse (a goods-receipt document) linked to a purchase line automatically finishes the purchase once the sum of received quantities covers the ordered quantity.
- The archive shows finished, canceled and disputed purchases, with a filter by supplier.
- The purchase cart view exports its list of lines to a PDF file (from version 2.35) - for printing or handing to the supplier.
- If the supplier has a store account (Suppliers module) with purchase handling enabled, their profile shows a To fulfill tab with their assigned purchases; the supplier can change a purchase's status there.
¶ Purchases and configurators
- PDF export of the purchase list - from version 2.35.
- The rest of the module's scope (current purchases, carts, receiving, archive) - present in the reviewed version 2.35.55; the module's earlier history was not covered by this review.
- The Suppliers module - supplier accounts and data, assigning a purchase to a supplier, and optional supplier access to the "To fulfill" tab.
- The warehouse and warehouse operations (a goods-receipt document) - for receiving goods and automatically closing a purchase.
- The rule for which lines qualify for a purchase - in the base version this covers every order line; matching it to the store's sales model requires implementation.
- Product configurators - for purchases of configurable lines and their components.
- The module is part of the platform, but in practice it's only useful once the "when is a purchase required" rule is matched to the store's sales model (selling from stock vs. made-to-order production) and suppliers are configured.
- Minimum estimated time: from 4 h - matching the purchase-qualification rule and basic supplier configuration. The exact scope is quoted individually.
- What the time depends on:
- the number of suppliers and how purchases are assigned to them,
- integration with the warehouse (goods-receipt documents) and the number of warehouses,
- whether lines need to be assigned from the queue to a supplier's cart automatically rather than manually.
- In the base version, the purchase-qualification rule covers every order line - without adapting it to a specific store, the module will generate a purchase even for items that are always in stock.
- Assigning a line from the queue to a specific supplier's cart isn't automatic in the base version - it's done manually in Current purchases, unless implementation adds an automatic assignment rule.
- The purchase list (and its PDF export) shows quantities from the order line - it doesn't calculate material usage from a configurable product's configuration on its own (see Configurations and Purchases in Hummerce).
- This is an admin panel tool (and optionally a supplier profile tool) - the store's customer doesn't see it.
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
- Automatic assignment of queued lines to a supplier's purchase cart by rule (e.g. an item's default supplier).
- A purchase list that calculates material usage from a configurable product's configuration, not just the component count (Configurations and Purchases in Hummerce).
- Extending the PDF export, e.g. a per-supplier template or emailing the file directly from the purchase cart.
Does Hummerce create purchases automatically from customer orders?
Yes. By default, every order line goes into the purchase queue; the rule for when a purchase is actually needed is matched to the store's sales model.
Does the module support multiple suppliers?
Yes. Purchases are grouped into carts assigned to a specific supplier, with a separate status and receipt for each.
Can the purchase list be exported to PDF?
Yes, from version 2.35 the purchase cart exports its list of lines to a PDF file.
Can a supplier see for themselves what they need to deliver?
Yes, if they have a supplier account with purchase handling enabled - they see the "To fulfill" tab and can change the purchase's status.
How long does implementing the Purchases module take?
From 4 h for matching the purchase-qualification rule and basic supplier configuration; the exact scope is quoted individually after reviewing the store.
Does the purchase list account for configurable product components?
Yes - components added as separate order lines go into purchases the same way as regular items, but in the quantity from the order, without automatically recalculating material usage. See Configurations and Purchases in Hummerce.

¶ REST API and MCP
- The Purchases module currently has no dedicated tools in the MCP server or a dedicated REST API endpoint - operations are performed in the admin panel.
