¶ Order, payment and delivery statuses in Hummerce

Statuses in Hummerce describe an order's state along three independent dimensions: order status, payment status and delivery status. Each has a short symbol used in filters, in advanced list and export criteria, in the REST API and in the AI assistant (MCP), as well as a name shown in the panel and to the customer.

¶ Benefits and use cases

Three independent statuses (order, payment, delivery) let you track order fulfillment more precisely than a single general status.
One convention everywhere - the same symbols work in order list criteria, in filters, in the REST API and in the AI assistant's tools.
Automation without extra configuration - a status change can trigger a customer email, warehouse documents, or passing the status on to an integration (ERP, couriers, Allegro).

¶ Allowed status transitions

From the current status, you can only move to statuses that transition is currently allowed to - the same rule applies in the order preview, in bulk operations, in the REST API and in MCP (see Order Management in the Hummerce Panel).
For payment status, the allowed transitions also depend on the payment module handling that particular method (e.g. different transitions for an online payment than for a bank transfer) - see Payments - overview.

¶ Statuses in criteria, filters and exports

In advanced criteria (e.g. in exports, bulk operations), a status symbol is preceded by a letter for the status type and a colon: o: for order status, p: for payment status, d: for delivery status - e.g. o:placed, p:paid, d:sent.

¶ Returns have their own set of statuses

The Returns module (withdrawal from the contract) runs a return through a separate, independent set of statuses: Placed, Under consideration, Accepted, Rejected, Canceled - it doesn't mix with the order status return described above, which refers to the whole order.

¶ Implementation

Works right after an update - the list of statuses and their symbols is part of every store, with no extra configuration. Implementation is only needed for adapting the automation on a status change (e.g. email content, warehouse documents, integrations) - described on the pages for those features.

¶ Limitations

The set of statuses is shared across the whole platform - you can't add a custom order, payment or delivery status symbol.
The allowed transitions between statuses are set by the module handling that status type (e.g. the payment module) - the panel, bulk operations, the REST API and MCP only show the statuses that a transition is currently allowed to.
The Returns module has its own, independent set of statuses - it doesn't mix with the order's general statuses described on this page.
We do not verify the configuration for legal compliance - matching status names and flow to the store's terms of service is up to the store.

¶ Frequently asked questions

Can a custom order status be added?
No. The set of order, payment and delivery status symbols is shared across the whole platform.

Does the payment status change automatically together with the order status?
No. These are three independent statuses - order, payment and delivery - changed separately, though changing one can be a store rule linked to automation affecting the others.

Does the Returns module use the same statuses as an order?
No. A return has its own set of statuses (Placed, Under consideration, Accepted, Rejected, Canceled), independent of the whole order's return status.

Where else are status symbols used besides the panel?
In advanced list and export criteria (with the o:, p: or d: prefix), in the REST API, and in MCP tools for orders and returns.

Can the status names shown to the customer be changed?
Yes, in the message editor - technical symbols (e.g. placed, paid, sent) stay the same, only the displayed name changes.
