¶ Saved configurations - save, edit and reorder
Saved configurations in Hummerce store every choice a customer makes in the configurator - the product, the items in each component, entered values and uploaded files - in full, as a separate object with its own link. This lets the customer come back to the configuration later, correct it, reorder it, or sell it as a finished product without going through the configurator again. The feature shortens the purchase path and makes it easier to get a configuration approved inside the customer's company.
As of Hummerce 2.35 (2.35.50 or newer recommended for the module), updated 2026-09-28.
¶ Benefits and use cases
- A B2B customer configures, saves and sends the link for approval to a manager or an end customer - with no account needed.
- A salesperson prepares a configuration and sends the customer a link - the customer only has to add it to the cart.
- Repeat orders with one click (Repeat order), always with the current price and checked availability.
- Preset combinations shorten the purchase path for customers who don't want to configure, while still using the configurator's logic (component stock, print files, ERP).
- A correction instead of a new order - the customer changes the configuration in the cart without removing the line and configuring from scratch.
- A saved configuration contains all of the customer's choices: the product, the items in each component, entered values, uploaded files and photos, and for personalization - the design from the working area.
- A configuration is saved:
- on every add-to-cart - as a new configuration linked to the cart line,
- on the customer's request from the configurator, without adding to cart - the customer gets a number and a link to the configuration,
- by store staff, when they open a configuration in the panel and save changes.
- Saving requires no login and doesn't attach the configuration to the customer's account - a saved configuration is a link the customer can keep or pass on.
- The price of a saved configuration is calculated on the server at the moment of saving. When added to the cart, it's calculated again, using the current price list.
- Once an order is placed, the configuration is marked as ordered and linked to the order.
- In the cart - a configured item has an Edit link. It opens the configurator with the saved choices and quantity; after the change, the cart line is replaced with a new configuration. The new configuration is checked and priced again - on an error, the previous line stays.
- From a saved configuration - the link to the configuration opens the configurator with the saved choices.
- In the panel - staff open the configuration from the Prepared combinations list in the configurator and save changes.
- In an order - an order can't be reconfigured in the panel. Editing an order changes the lines (product and components) like regular items - without re-checking or re-pricing the configuration (Managing orders in the panel).
- In the cart, a component's quantity follows from the product quantity - the customer changes the quantity of the whole product, and the component quantities recalculate on their own. A component can't be removed from the cart on its own.
- A preset combination is a regular catalog product that points to a saved configuration (the Configured set parameter). The customer buys it with one click, without the configurator.
- When a preset combination is added to the cart, the store takes the saved configuration, checks it and prices it like a customer's configuration; the cart receives the configurable product with its components, noting which preset it came from.
- The price of a preset combination is calculated for the preset product - it can have its own price and promotions.
- The customer can change the preset in the configurator - their choices are merged with the preset's configuration.
- Uses: bestsellers and suggestions ("starter set", "birthday telegram"), configurations recommended by salespeople, templates for further personalization.
- Repeat order - from an order in the customer's account; configurations are added to the cart again with the saved choices, current prices and an availability check. A configuration that can no longer be placed (e.g. a discontinued component) won't reach the cart.
- Saved carts - restoring a cart restores the configurations the same way (Carts).
- Offers and quotes - configurable items are restored in the cart from the saved configuration (Configuration pricing).
¶ Print files and processing
- For personalization, the store prepares a print-ready PDF from the customer's design - after the order is placed, accounting for the real dimensions, resolution and bleed set on the product.
- Ordered configurations can be processed further (e.g. preparing files for production) - a background task running every 15 minutes.
- A core platform feature - saving, editing from the cart, preset combinations and the saved configurations list in the panel are available in all supported versions.
- Repeat order restores configurations - in all supported versions.
- From version 2.33 - editing a configuration from the cart in the Bootstrap 5 template.
- From version 2.34 - saving a configuration in Bootstrap 5 configurators; from 2.35 - opening the Bootstrap 5 configurator from a saved configuration.
- Latest changes in the module: version 2.35.50.
- A configurable product and a configurator on the product page (Configurable product - types and structure, Configurator on the product page).
- Editing from the cart - the Bootstrap 5 template (from version 2.33) or Bootstrap 4.
- Print-ready PDF files - the print generation module and print parameters set on the product.
- Preset combinations - a saved configuration referenced by the product.
- Works once configurable products go live - saving on cart and order, editing from the cart, Repeat order and the panel list require no separate work. In addition:
- the save-configuration button and how the link is passed to the customer (e.g. copy link, send by email) - to be added during implementation for Bootstrap 5 configurators,
- preset combinations - preparing the preset products,
- print files - enabling the printing module and setting print parameters.
- Minimum estimated time:
- the save button and configuration link in a Bootstrap 5 configurator - from 4 h,
- the first preset combination - from 1 h, further ones on your own in the panel,
- print-ready PDF files for personalization - from 4 h.
- The time for a specific implementation depends on its scope - we quote it individually.
- What the time depends on:
- how the link is shared (copying, email, saving to the customer's account - quoted separately),
- production's requirements for the files (bleed, marks, order number on the print),
- the number of preset combinations and whether they have their own photos and descriptions.
- Configurations aren't attached to the customer's account - there's no list of saved configurations in the account; the customer relies on the link, the cart and the order history.
- Bootstrap 5 configurators don't have a ready-made save-configuration button - it's added during implementation.
- Every add-to-cart creates a new configuration - even when the customer already saved the same one earlier. The panel list grows with store traffic.
- Orders can't be reconfigured in the panel - changing a configuration after the order is placed requires a new order or manual line editing.
- A preset combination is set manually through a product parameter - there's no separate "save configuration as a product" operation.
- A configuration restored from an order, cart or offer gets current prices, not the price from the day of the first order.
- We do not verify the task for legal compliance (e.g. licenses of submitted materials, GDPR, store terms of service).
- A "my configurations" list in the customer account, shareable with co-workers in the company.
- Saving a configuration as a preset combination with one click in the panel.
- Reconfiguring an order line by store staff.
- Automatic cleanup of unordered configurations after a set time.
Does a customer need an account to save a configuration?
No. Saving requires no login - the customer gets a link to the configuration, which they can keep or pass on, e.g. for approval within their company.
Can a saved configuration be bought with one click, without the configurator?
Yes, as a preset combination - a regular catalog product pointing to a saved configuration. The customer can also change the preset in the configurator before adding it to the cart.
Does Repeat order always restore exactly the same configuration?
The configuration is restored with current prices and an availability check - if a component has been discontinued, the configuration can no longer be placed.
How long does it take to set up the save-configuration button in a store with the Bootstrap 5 template?
From 4 h - Bootstrap 5 configurators don't have it ready-made; it's added during implementation together with how the link is shared with the customer.
Can an order be reconfigured in the panel after it's placed?
No. Editing an order changes the lines like regular items, without re-checking or re-pricing the configuration - changing the configuration requires a new order.
